OUr mission
Our Mission
Changing Stafford’s Roads is an organization based in Stafford County, Virginia, comprised of students from various high-schools within the county. As an organization, we advocate for proactive secondary road maintenance, road safety, and student activism in all levels of government.
As students and citizens in Stafford County, we are concerned about the safety and quality of several secondary roads within our county that our youth must drive every day to school.
OUR GOALs
The Changing Stafford’s Roads organization intends to educate the community while improving the conditions of secondary road systems through activism and potential legislation in local, state, and federal government.
We are currently advocating for a bill titled “Helen’s Law” which would allow localities/counties to regulate the removal of vegetation that blocks driver’s line of sight.
Term goals
Changing Stafford’s Roads is working to accomplish term goals that will help our mission to improve secondary road conditions.
- 1st month: Passage of Bond Referendum
- 1st year: Passage of Helen's Law
- 5 years: Full usage of Helen's Law in Stafford and surrounding counties
